About the Author

Jason Merchey, philosophical thinker,
author, speaker, and coaching consultant,
was born in Los Angeles and raised in
southern California.
Though an excellent student and
precocious child, Jason was deeply
affected by his parents' divorce, which
plunged him into an emotional and
intellectual hibernation. It was not until
college, when he stumbled across the great
thinkers, that Jason came awake to his
life and his purpose. Only then did he
begin to flourish, as he discovered his
passion for philosophy and its ability to
guide him through difficult times. In
Jason's words, "Socrates saved me."
Reenergized, Jason graduated with
highest honors and then earned a master's
degree in psychology. He moved to San
Diego, where he has since been studying
and practicing psychotherapy and family
therapy.
Jason has always been intrigued by
philosophical and existential thought and
ethics. His affinity for language,
combined with strong, progressive,
humanistic interests, inspired him to
research, collect, and catalogue
quotations from thousands of the world's
greatest thinkers. He is dedicated to
inspiring and helping people create "a
life of value" by bringing timeless wisdom
to life. Through his books, lectures, and
seminars, Jason offers individuals and
groups ideas and methods for experiencing
