Controversial and Challenging!

The Zecharia Sitchin Books

"I have always loved to see the "conventional wisdom" challenged. Not by crackpots or those suffering from delusions, but by those who have done a lot of research, uncovered a lot of evidence, constructed new syntheses, and drawn astonishing conclusions based on the evidence they've collected. It does not mean these iconoclasts are correct. It does mean they need to be read, and taken seriously, and challenged.

"When I was a sophomore in high school, I read Sigmund Freud and I drew the conclusion that he was wrong, wrong, wrong. I thought his theories, for the most part, were false. But practically everyone I knew or had heard of took Freud seriously and he has certainly had an effect (mainly harmful, I will argue) on our society and culture.

"After more than forty years, I still think Freud's theories are bunk! But many still take them seriously. Here comes Zecharia Sitchin, with some theories that most current scientists, philosophers, and theologians will probably argue are bunk. But, then, have they looked at his evidence? Have they thought about how he puts this evidence together to form his new synthesis? I suspect they have not. He is simply dismissed out of hand because his ideas are "off-beat" and challenge the conventional wisdom.

"Well, my friends, the conventional wisdom has been wrong before and, undoubtedly, will be wrong again. I am not saying Sitchin is correct. I am saying he should be read and taken seriously. For now, I am reserving final judgment on his conclusions. But I do find his books fascinating and thought-provoking and, yes, 'radical.'" J. Dolhenty
