Adventures in Philosophy: Alfred North Whitehead

Alfred North Whitehead (1861-1948) believed that the principle of relativity is the key to the understanding of metaphysics. Like Bertrand Russell, Whitehead was a distinguished mathematician and logician. He advocates one reality -- whatever is given in perception is real. Sensory data of which experience is composed consists of point-events in space-time, existing independently of a perceiving mind. Consciousness and mind are not entities apart from events. Consciousness orders and unifies events.
