Dr. Petronius Arbiter's Index

Return to Cartoons & Comics Index

My Life, by Bill Clinton

Will this book become a classic?

Back in the 1990s, before we went on the World Wide Web with our website, some of us were involved with a print publication called The Freedom Express. During that period, and with Bill Clinton in the White House, we used to run some political cartoons, most of them dealing with the shenanigans occurring within the Clinton administration. Some of these cartoons, all by our anonymous Dr. Petronius Arbiter, are now being posted here.

These cartoons were originally created as .eps documents. Since we do not have the software to convert them to .gif documents, we had to scan them into the pages, so some of them are not as perfect as we would like. Nevertheless, we thought them to be an interesting (and humorous!) addition to this section. We are hoping that Dr. Arbiter will agree to create some new cartoons about the George Bush administration in a format consistent with our website's requirements.

The Political Game: 18 -- Our Crazy World: 19

The name "Petronius Arbiter" comes from an ancient Roman satirist who is famous for writing one book, The Satyricon. This work has long been considered a true classic in literature, although, to be sure, it may bother some readers since it does contain some highly salacious (although very humorous) adventures. The stories, however, are a true snapshot of the human condition as it existed in Nero's Rome.

This book is already a classic!
