Jonathan
Dolhenty, Ph.D.
Dr.
Jonathan Dolhenty is the co-founder of the Center
for Applied Philosophy, a think-tank in cyberspace,
and is webmaster of The Radical Academy website, a
discussion of philosophy, politics, and the human
condition, and which promotes Classical Realism in
philosophy and Classical Liberalism in
politics.
For five years he was the editor-in-chief and
publisher of The Freedom Express, a national
publication which discussed social and political
affairs using objective evidence and logical
analysis as its main tools for critical evaluation.
Prior to that he was the editor and publisher of
The Education Information Services
Newsletter, a publication which went to school
administrators and school board members in over
thirty states. He has also been involved in the
publishing of other specialized publications.
Dr. Dolhenty has B.A. degrees in political
science, philosophy, and education, a Master's
degree in education, and a doctorate in education
and philosophy and has done advanced work in
quantitative analysis. He has been a teacher,
school administrator, college professor, editor,
publisher, and corporate executive as a
vice-president of and general manager for Creative
Adventures Corporation and, before that, as an
executive vice-president of Custom Arts, Inc.
Dr. Dolhenty has appeared on radio and
television as a commentator on political, social,
and educational topics, and once had his own weekly
radio show called "Sentinel of the Air," a program
devoted to exposing the nonsense of totalitarian
communism and collectivism and promoting individual
liberty and natural rights in a society based on
the traditional concept of the "good" for which all
rational men seek.
He
has been granted an honorary membership in The
Center for the Study of The Great Ideas for his
work on behalf of promoting philosophical realism.
In December of 2004 Dr. Dolhenty was appointed as a
Senior Fellow at The Center for the Study of The
Great Ideas in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Dolhenty lives a quiet and reflective life
on the southern coast of Oregon in a small fishing
town with historic traditions, spending his time
thinking, writing, and maintaining this website.
His long-time companion, partner, and co-founder of
The Radical Academy, Priscilla Harris, passed away
in March of 2003. Thirty days later their beloved
dog, Ming Ling Sun of Havasu, also died. Now his
immediate companion is Tigger the Mighty Cat, who
is now thirteen years old and as feisty as
ever.
The picture at the left shows Dr. Dolhenty at
the age of fourteen, when he began his quest for
philosophical truth. From that time on, once he
discovered the truths of Classical Realism in the
tradition of Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas, he never
deviated from studying and promoting them. Over
fifty years later, he is still doing just that on
the Internet. And enjoying it more than ever!
